Facebook Added New Measures to Limit the Spread of COVID-19 Misinformation

Facebook is enhancing its efforts to fight with the spread of COVID-19 misinformation! The false information about the virus is going viral like a fire in the bush on Facebook and it has significant consequences too. For this, Facebook took an initiative and came up with 2 measures to choke the circulation of fake news related to coronavirus.

First - Debunking the Myths Being Circulated

Facebook will start showing messages in News Feed to people who have liked, reacted or commented on misinformation about COVID-19 that they have since removed. This message will connect with the audience to COVID-19 myths debunked by WHO which will include the ones which are already removed.

They said,

“We want to connect people who may have interacted with harmful misinformation about the virus with the truth from authoritative sources in case they see or hear these claims again off of Facebook. People will start seeing these messages in the coming weeks.”
